Retailers are gearing up for Black Friday madness this week with experts predicting a wave of bargain hunters to descend on the UK high street and internet shopping to boom. As a company who sells mobile phone accessories to both the trade and the public, we are already stocked up anticipating a bumper sales day.
Traditionally a day of huge discounts across electronics and fashion products, Black Friday has been around in the States for a while and was introduced to the UK by Amazon in 2010.
It first hit the UK headlines in 2014 with unsavoury scenes broadcast across the media of fights breaking out in major supermarkets with consumers arguing to get their hands on cut-price electronic goods.
2015 saw a complete transformation to the Black Friday experience, with shoppers deciding not to hit the high street at all. Instead, the consumer decided to shop mostly on-line, which resulted in one of the largest website traffic days of the year.
Retail consultancy firm Salmon anticipates that this year will be the tipping point for mobile in the UK - with more shoppers than ever buying their goods from their smartphones. As a supplier of mobile phone accessories, we have already anticipated a surge in sales and have been planning for this date at the back end, with our warehouses stocked well to meet demand.
The other prediction for 2016, is that sales will no longer be confined to a one day window. We are expecting sales to be strong across the whole weekend - Thursday 24th to Monday 28th November.

Keep your eye out in the press as to which retailers are going to be offering the best savings. Remember, some retailers offer deals earlier than Black Friday, so don't forget to keep your eyes peeled all week. Retailers often release further deals on the following Monday (Cyber Monday). Think about long term gifts and of course accessories to go with them.
